There are several Preventable Ways to Die after SHTF. You can end up dead, dying, or maimed that are all preventable injuries. It might come as a shock to some that many of the ways that we get hurt are all preventable in one way or another, and this is why it’s so important to prep.
We can prep and practice some ways to not die, by doing some basics. After SHTF, when the dust has settled so-to-speak, there are methods you can follow to help keep you and your loved ones safe. We’re not talking weapons here folks, we’re talking preventive methods to your way of life, and some good practices all throughout the year.
Exercise

Exercise is probably the most critical factor of Preventable Ways to Die after SHTF. The best all-around exercise to stay fit and healthy is, believe it or not, is CrossFit. It’s the number 1 workout of individuals in the police, military, and firefighting services. It’s an exercise routine that is a strength, conditioning, and overall fitness program consisting mainly of a mix of aerobic exercise, calisthenics (body weight exercises), and Olympic weightlifting.
With the proper equipment and routines, you should be able to do most of the exercises at home. But if not, there are several gyms you can attend, to get in shape if you need a class to get you motivated.
WARNING: Do not attempt to do CrossFit without first being in shape. You can seriously damage your body otherwise. Start by jogging or using an exercise bike to get you there.
Falling Down
Falling down is the second most dangerous Preventable Ways to Die after SHTF. There’s a lesson to be learned here, if you want to ensure your best ability to not fall. You need to learn to WALK. That’s not an acronym, it is a life lesson. If your family is in danger, you need to walk to get to them. If you run, it induces panic adrenalin, which allows you to do great feats with strength, and the ability to ignore pain. However, if you force yourself to walk to them (perhaps briskly), you can think clearly and calmly to get them out of a deadly situation.
Another thing to consider, is it is a lot easier to twist your ankle or fall down when you are running. So walking everywhere at every time, is more important than running. They say we have a fight or flight reaction to danger, so remaining calm is a difficult feat as well. Remember, there are no easily accessible doctors after a SHTF situation. So falling down could mean broken bones, if you aren’t eating right., which brings us to…
Vitamins & Minerals
How many people, do you know, have years worth of essential Vitamins & Minerals prepped and waiting in storage? If you don’t get enough vitamin D, your body has trouble absorbing Calcium. If you don’t get enough vitamin C, your body has trouble mending wounds – it can also cause scurvy. And without zinc, you don’t get over viruses quickly. Then there’s potassium and magnesium, which help stave off cramps and muscle soreness.
Vitamin B which also helps with muscle recovery AND with brain power. But the list goes on. Our bodies need several Vitamins & Minerals daily to stop Preventable Ways to Die. I suggest buying 2–3 years worth of vitamins for each person in your family, and then rotating the new stock to the back. You can buy year supplies via any Big Box Store.
Preventable Ways to Die after SHTF
As stated, these are just a few Preventable Ways to Die after SHTF. People like to mention infection or disease, and while I would agree, these are not necessarily preventable. Stopping from getting infected by a disease or virus, or even bit from spiders, 🐍 snakes, and zombies will go a long way to preventing injury as well, but these aren’t always in our powers to stop.
